Eurasian collared doves are a new species to the American southeast, first seen in southern Florida in the 1980s. Although it's difficult to distinguish them between escaped domestic ringed turtle doves, I believe this is a Eurasian collared dove. It was half of an apparently mated pair, both of which were wild and strong fliers. Each bird was, perhaps, a foot in length. Photographed in Baton Rouge on March 12, 2006.
