Great blue herons are the largest wading birds at Alligator Bayou. In fact, they're the largest wading birds in North America, and they can reach over four feet in height when mature. This one was wading in deep water at Cypress Flats. It apparently had an easier time negotiating the hydrilla than I did in The POS.
